For a while, I've been playing with a custom controller setup. I designed this because using the zapper for more than an hour would cause severe hand pain. The controller below is great and I can use it for hours with no problems. It's made with an 8" piece of 1/2" PVC pipe, double-sided tape, and super glue. If you build one yourself, don't go more than 2.5" beyond the end of the controller or the signal will be blocked when you are pointing at the right side of the screen.





So I was excited that Black Ops had a headset feature. To my disappointment, only one headset is available, the appropriately named 'Headbanger' one. This headset is always moving around and hurts my ear. It also hinders me from wearing stereo headphones, which greatly increases the immersion experience and helps keep enemies from sneaking up on me. I decided to experiment a bit and have come up with the perfect solution. I've spliced in a microphone and headphone jack to the Headbanger headset. With just a few cables and adapters, I can now wear any headset that has an audio plug and a microphone plug, allowing me to use one headset for both the stereo audio from the game and for chatting.



I can make one of these for you as well. If you send me your Headbanger headset, I can customize it and send it back. Alternatively, I can send you the full setup with a new headset. With your Headbanger headset, it would likely cost just $25. Full setup (minus actual headset you would use with the customized headset) would probably be $50.
